There's just something about those five intertwined rings...

Hello, I’m About It All readers. I’m EP from Stylish Handwriting, and I’m taking over for Suga HiL today as she takes up residence at my blog. How’s it going?

In celebration of HiL’s blog being what she’s all about, I thought I’d let y’all in on one thing I am all about.

The Olympics.

I don’t know what it is about this year, but I am loving the Olympic trials. What makes it sweeter is that I simply cannot wait ‘til the athletes make it to Beijing so I can continue to watch and cheer them on.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I’ve always fantasized about becoming an Olympian. (This is the point where y’all smile and nod because who hasn’t? Especially when you were a child. Uh huh.) Childhood dreams of becoming an Olympian were quickly shattered because I was too tall to be a gymnast, too short to be a basketball or volleyball player, too afraid of the ball to be a softball player and never pursued swimming like I should have.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that my BFF’s 16-year-old cousin made the swimming trials. And while she didn’t make the team, I think it’s awesome that she was there.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that numerous athletes from my alma mater are a part of the track and field team. It never ceases to amaze me just how fast they are.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have a crush on every male swimmer on the U.S. Olympic team. (And probably every other team there.) Hello, Speedo! It’s a shame they are wearing bodysuits now, but c’est la vie. A girl can still dream.

Or perhaps I think it is good to have something to support during this time of war we are living in. It is nice to have something to unite us, not separate us. And hopefully, these games will do that for everyone.

Whatever the reason is (I’m still not sure, obvs), I’m all about the Olympics.

And the only thing that would make them better? If the following games were included as sports:

  • red rover
  • dodgeball
  • kickball
  • whiffleball
  • Horse
  • hide and seek
  • freeze tag
  • manhunt
  • sardines
  • Guitar Hero

But I guess if these made the final “sport” list, the awe (and possibly respect) of the athletes would quickly diminish, and I’m sure the Olympics would not be nearly as impressive are they are now. I mean, how many people can run that fast? Or jump that high? Or swim like a fish? Or be ridiculously talented on the floor?

You could easily say, “Bobby, I should have made the team! You know I’m better at hiding than you!” Or “That was a lucky note streak, Sarah! Gah, I cannot believe you.”

And while I know it wouldn’t work and that there is a reason none of these games have made the cut, it’d be amusing. I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch kickball on national television just once if not to just reminisce about the times you played it in the school yard? Exactly.

Sports.

According to the NBA, here are the top-selling jerseys as follows:
Are we really surprised?

Kobe: America's favorite player.
A.I: The player that doesn't show up to practice but still can command the floor every game.
LeBron: I call him "Mr. Showtime".
Chris Paul: "Mr. Fastest Come Up Ever".
K.G: "Mr. Underated till now".

Is your favorite player's jersey on the list, if not, tell me who they are and why?

Here's a little basketball humor. Enjoy!

Intellect.

Here is a little history on McCain and Hurrican Katrina. Yet somehow this video missed a few people. But not to worry, we can change things. Wise up..because you been educated.

Sports.

So I was peeping around ESPN like I usually do and what do my eyes find? Another story about O-State (Oklahoma State Univertisty) that continues to enforce negative views about the O-State football team. Read the story first..my comments follow.

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State Cowboys tight end Brandon Pettigrew pleaded guilty on Monday to a reduced charge for allegedly attacking a police officer in January.
Payne County prosecutors originally charged Pettigrew with felony assault and battery on a police officer, but they reached a plea agreement with Pettigrew in which he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery.
He must pay a $200 fine and make a $200 contribution to the victims' compensation fund, as well as perform 20 hours of community service, which he has already completed at the YMCA, defense attorney William Baker said in court.
Pettigrew, from Tyler, Texas, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor public intoxication in the incident and was fined $100.
He received a deferred sentence and won't have a criminal record if he successfully completes probation. Coach Mike Gundy declined to suspend Pettigrew, saying in February that he would allow the case to run its course.
Pettigrew caught 35 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Now, what I don't understand is what could you have been possibly drinking or smoking to make you assault a Police Officer? Obviously, this story from the AP doesn't tell all, but at the same time, I have to use the very much overused quote.."Black people, we have got to do bettter." No one expects anybody to be perfect. But, as a black, male athlete on scholarship on a NCAA team--I and every sane person will hold you to a higher standard. A million and one people would kill for a free education, yet you have the time to assault a Police officer? There is nothing wrong with drinking, atleast try to make an effort to do it responsibly. What I have come to learn at my at (20's) is that you only have one shot a life so think again before screwing it up especially when you have so much on the line. Whether you think you are a inspiration to someone or not someone will always look at you for an example of "What to Do" or "What not to Do." So I say this, always try to put your best foot forward. So after all my rant..was I a little hard on Brandon? I thinks not, but let me know what you think?

Intellect.

This is not exactly pertaining to intellect, but it is an attempt to get black women to change their sometimes negative thinking, and the frustrations of life to challenge themselves to be better than the average...

A good woman is proud of herself. She respects herself and others.
She is aware of who she is. She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind.
She is quite capable of articulating her needs. A good woman is hopeful. She is strong enough to make all her dreams come true. She knows love, therefore she gives love. She recognizes that her love has great value and must be reciprocated. If her love is taken for granted, it soon disappears.
A good woman has a dash of inspiration, a dabble of endurance. She knows that she will, at times, have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them.
A good woman knows her past, understands her present and moves toward the future. A good woman knows God. She knows that with God the world is her playground, but without God she will just be played. A good woman does not live in fear of the future because of her past. Instead, she understands that her life experiences are merely lessons, meant to bring her closer to self knowledge and unconditional self love.

Girl Smile…..YOU KNOW YOU HAVE IT GOING ON!

Also, if you have time please go to google.com and type in the search box "Black women art", click through at least the first 3 pages. Are you satisfied with the images? Drop me a line to let me know your thoughts.

Fashion.

This morning, I'm taking a look at the vice of most women...SHOES! Specifically Christian Louboutin shoes. Every woman hopes to have at least one pair of these priceless yet expensive shoes. Here are my favorite pairs that I have spotted. Of course, I have to be realistic and hook you up with some alternatives. Happy Shoe Hunting.

Shoe number one is great for the Summer. This camel brown is the "IT" color of the summer.
Find the twin at ninewest.com
Shoe number two says "Bring on the color and the beach after-party" or something to that effect. Cute shorts, mini skirt, or leggings and a tunic are all great for this shoe. When i look at this shoe I know I'm thinking outside the box and looking cute while doing it.
Find the twin at bakersshoes.com
Shoe number three is great for those dresses. Classic yet trendy.
Find the twin at bakersshoes.com
Shoe number four is the print that never goes out of style. LEPOARD!! Caution ladies, as beautiful as they are, these shoes can go wrong if you OVER acessorize, or put too many patterns together with them. Best thing to do when you are wearing these babies is KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Find the twin at ninewest.com
Shoe number five is also a classic black shoe that you can where with anything. The thing that I love about this shoe is it takes the black shoe to "new heights"... no pun intended. The pleating plus the heel...simply divine.
You used to able to find it's twin at whitehouseblackmarket.com but you still can find some hot shoes similar to this pair through this link.

Sports.

Hey yall,
I guess you heard that the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship title. And since I'ma about it all.. I have to speak on it. I'm ok with the Leprechaun’s winning...but did the Laker's have to go out like some punks. I personally turned the game off at 10:00 p.m. because it was simply pathetic to be getting paid that much and play like some wimps. I think it was the third quarter and the Celtics were still up by like 30 points. Even though I respect the Celtics for their all around game of defense and offense I thought the NBA had more to offer than a blowout Game 6. Even when MJ and Pipen were doin’ it up, the opponent still came with a fight to the best of their abilities. It was still entertaining. After all they are ball players. The United States best. The crazy thing is, my fam and I had a heated debate over if the championship was fixed, and all my standing up for the Lakers went down the drain. At the end of the day, I just thought that they had more heart than what the came with. Which leads me to the question….Do you still think that the talent of this year’s Championship teams was worth watching? I have always been a fan of the game but had I known it would end like this, I would have spent more time studying for my GMAT and getting some sleep instead of watching all 51/2 games.

I'm HERE!!!

Finally,
I'm here, I'm 25 year old living in Oklahoma. Where? Yeah. I know. Oklahoma. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2005. Go POKES!! But don't let the plains and the trees fool ya..I got a lot of insight on life, music, fashion, and sports. I love it all so that's why "I'm About It All." Of course, writing is my first love so that's why I'm here. This is my first official blog entry..so give me some of your insight and I will give you some of mine. Stayed tuned and be amazed and inspired.
