Sports..Lil' Wayne's blog on the NFL Right Now

Well I haven't posted any of Lil's Wayne's thoughts on sports lately because more often than not these days, he really hasn't had too many smart things to say. ( Kid's Stay off the drugs and misc. liquids) But, he bought up some interesting points about the NFL, and I can appreciate his few moments of intelligence.

Lil' Wayne- "The AFC is a real mystery right now. You kind of know what's going to happen with the NFC, but the AFC is all messed up this year. I'm probably the only person out there who thought the Chiefs were gonna be playoff contenders, and Cincinnati would be good, too. "

Suga HiL- Very true, I feel that sometimes NFL mess up games just to play with people's heads.

Lil' Wayne- "The whole Plaxico thing kind was crazy because immediately afterward everyone was talking about the legal implications and what are the Giants going to do with him now, and no one stopped and said, My God, this guy just shot himself. Is he okay? Was it stupid? Of course. I mean, I accidentally shot myself when I was twelve and that's a scary lesson to learn. But before you go yelling at him and talking about his punishment for being so stupid it's like, Guy, is your leg okay? I was amazed no one was asking that question. The guy just shot himself in the leg!"

Suga HiL- No one was asking if he was okay because he shot himself in the leg..FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Lil' Wayne, it's his leg. My thinking was if you are dumb enough to put yourself in a situation like that, you deserve all the consequences coming to you. (All I gotta say is OJ=15 yrs in prison)

So what do you think bout' what Weezy had to say, or what I had to say for that matter. Let a sister know. The full blog entry is HERE.

Sports..Possible NFL Franchise Moves

Just Thursday afternoon it was reported that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was thinking the next NFL team might find its way down to San Antonio.

Well, lucky for us,
Forbes has now compiled a list of which sports teams are most likely to go go for pizza and never make it back to their destinations.

The 10 that are most likely to move for one reason or another is as follows:

-- Florida Marlins
-- Tampa Bay Rays
-- Buffalo Bills
-- Minnesota Vikings
-- San Francisco 49ers
-- New York Islanders
-- Phoenix Coyotes
-- Nashville Predators
-- New Orleans Hornets
-- Charlotte Bobcats

So what do you guys think of this list? Let a sistah know. FYI, click the Forbes link for the full article.

Sports..Plaxico Keeps the Bench Warm for Week 4

Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress was suspended for one game (2 weeks in total including the buy week) by the New York Giants on today for an undisclosed violation of team rules. General manager Jerry Reese and coach Tom Coughlin informed Burress of the suspension Wednesday morning before the team held a bye-week practice.

The suspension takes effect immediately, meaning Burress will miss the Giants (3-0) game against the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 5. Burress was not immediately available for comment. Drew Rosenhaus, his agent, did not immediately return a telephone call by The Associated Press for comment.

The Giants did not specify why Burress was suspended. FoxSports.com said that Burress did not show up for work on Monday and did not telephone or answer phone messages to explain his absence. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said the team was not confirming or denying any reason for the suspension.

Burress, who caught the game-winning touchdown in the final minute of the Giants' 17-14 win over the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, will be allowed to return to team activities the day after the Seahawks game.

I tell ya, there is more drama in sports than soap operas these days.

Sports..Are We in the Twilight Zone??

This weekend's display of a couple of WTH's in sports has made me believe that...(Click Video)

We are truly in the Twilight Zone.

First one, Dallas Cowboys actually won a game in Lambeau Field against the Greenbay Packers for the very first time. T.O. only had two catches for 17 yards, the rest was done by Marion Barber and special teams player Miles Austin. Final Score: 27-16.
Twilight Zone moment: I mean, yeah I thought that they might win but I knew the Cowboys history; and the Packers did put up a fight until the 3 quarter. Plus, how many times did people think Dallas was going to win at Lambueau and didn't...6 to be exact.

The United States won the Ryder Cup Championship for the first time in 9 years.
Volumes have been written on the withering pressure of this event, particularly America's tense susceptibility to that pressure in recent years. If you asked around, I'm sure the most common explanations for the United States' recent Ryder Cup failures was its inability to play loose and have fun. Their Twilight Zone moment: Tiger Woods wasn't even on the team!?!? Yeah, I know you're thinking the same thing as me. Their combined record in this Ryder Cup: a dominant 6-1-3. Their combined record on Sunday, with the Cup up for grabs: 3-0.

And finally, the Miami Dolphins beat the New Patriots in a 38-13 win at New England's home field. Fans booed the Patriots. Many left early. The record winning streak of their favorite team was ending with a stunning domination by the lowly Dolphins. Twilight Zone Moment: In ending the Patriots' NFL-record 21-game regular-season win streak, the Dolphins also snapped their 11-game road losing streak.

So do you think were in the Twilight Zone sports wise? I also think that something a little off in NCAA football too, but I could go on and on about that one. Or do you think that's these events are just luck and are really just a one in a million moments? Hit me up and let me know.

Sports.. Goodie Bag

Bring out the backup quarterback Tennessee.. According to ESPN. The mother of Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young said he's "hurting inside and out" and indicated he might not want to play football any longer.
Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all of the negativity he's faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville.

I personally feel that he just had a bad game and needs to fight through it, but moms are most of the time right. Read the Full Story.

Another QB has alos bitten the dust..I tell ya I have never seen so many QB's get injured or bee just slightly off in one season. Anyways, 49er's high-price QB is done for the season and could possibly never play another game again due to another shoulder injury. Read the Full Story.

The Former Seattle Sonics basketball that was recently moved to Oklahoma City now has a team name. The Oklahoma City Thunder. Not bad right? "It's very unique," said Mason, a former Oklahoma State forward who the Thunder acquired in an offseason trade with Milwaukee. "It's going to take some time getting used to, just like Utah Jazz or Orlando Magic, but I think it's a great thing for the state and a great thing for the city."

Well I'm definitely looking forward to their play this season. Read Full Story.

And less than 24 hours after Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested on a drug possession charge early Wednesday, the team said it would waive him. Colts president Bill Polian said the team would waive Johnson Thursday. He said the Colts consider every violation of a team rule or NFL policy on a case-by-case basis."

Johnson was pulled over for speeding and arrested for marijuana possession. Polian said Johnson was repeatedly told that during the offseason, and was reminded as recently as Tuesday of coach Tony Dungy's rules of behavior."Unfortunately, he chose to violate those rules," Polian said Read Full Story.

Sports..Question Tuesday

Okay, since I have been in sports overload lately (which is not very often, more less more sports and the lack of time to write about it all) I have decided to come up with question Tuesday. This post will need everybody's full PARTICIPATION..meaning comments. Plus, I really want to know that I'm not the only one who truly has an opinion on sports matters. So..PLEASE comment away and give me YOUR opinion.

Plus, I love when people (think) I'm wrong..

First..
Are the Denver Bronco's just appearing to be a potentially really good team, or are the Oakland Raiders just a really bad team that wasn't prepared last night? Or was it a combination of the two?

SUGA HIL:
I'm going to say that Raiders just suck.. I thought they would have had a better showing last night. They got Deangelo Hall, Justin Fargas. Then it was their home opener, but all it seemed that they could do is rack up penalties and personal fouls. Just sad..

Should T.O. have gotten that 15 yard penalty for celebrating after the touchdown Sunday?

SUGA HIL:
I going to go with Coach wade Phillips on this one.
"It's my fault for not knowing that there was another hidden rule here somewhere," Phillips said. "I'm a little like he is. I don't know why they won't let you have fun. He wasn't making fun of anybody. It wasn't an outlandish display of taunting the other team."

Now that Tom Brady is officially out for the rest of the season, is that really going to screw the Patriots over?

SUGA HIL:
This question is kind of hard to answer but I'll take a stab at it. Since Matt Cassel has probably only played in 2 NFL games since he started backup with the Pats..I'm going to say he'll do okay but he will definitely won't be as good as people are saying. I say the will make the cut for playoffs but lose in first game.

Lastly, is OJ going to get off again in his trial?

SUGA HIL: Prosecutors say they got a lot of evidence, obviously that didn't matter in the last case. Well, I do think he will have to do some jail time but they are not going to throw like 5 books at him.

So that's all for question Tuesday. Do you have some questions you wanted featured in a upcoming post? Hit me up and let me know.
And all opinions expressed are solely Suga HiL's..if you don't like it tell me why but just don't be a straight up hater..

Sports..Goodie Bag

I had to get you started for this exciting weekend..so I hitting ya with one more sports goodie bag..

First..Here's some funny video from Team USA, shot the day before they left for China, this must-see video from Chris Bosh is a quick, candid and entertaining look at what it's like to sit down for some Wendy's with Deron Williams, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and LeBron James. Honestly, when was the last time you rolled into a San Francisco gas station and stumbled upon five of the best hoopsters on the planet? Such scenarios just do not happen all that often. My other question was have they not ever been to a Travel gas station?

LeBron James: "Man, you get a burger, get you some gas, and get you some coffee then stay on the road for another five hours in this joint.

"Chris Paul: "... and some Slim Jims ...

"Deron Williams: "I'm from Dallas ... I eat Rudy's ..." (Rudy's is a famous fried chicken place in Dallas)

I mean if I hung out with some b-ball players, these guys would be the ones. It's crazy cause even though it 40 seconds of video, they had me rollin' .

So in case you didn't know Serena beat Venus Wednesday in two tie-breaking matches, 7-6,7-6. She plays Dinara Safina today.

The excuse "us" quote comes from Serena when she was doing an interview after the match..

Q. There's the No. 1 position at stake for at least three girls in the tournament now. Is that an extra motivation?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah. Honestly, I really would just like to win the tournament with or without the ranking. Believe me, I'm going to be No. 1 sooner or later.

Well, okay then, but Serena definitely got that spice, so anytime she comes to the mic she always says something you didn't expect her to say.
Click on the pic for video and interview highlights..

And in NFL news, the NY Giants beat the Washington Redskins 16-7, in the season opener Thursday.

Sports..Goodie Bag..Must See TV!

First off all, I just wanted to let ya'll know that I apologize for not updating you guys on the football this weekend. You know how it is when your my hosts the family for the holiday weekend..that means you have to do as much work as she does. It was definitely fun yet exhausting...

But anyways, I'm giving you the rundown of what's going on in sports, since there is soo much going on right now...You know how the goodie bag goes.

So the Williams sisters are playing each other for the 1oth time tonight @ 7pm in the quarterfinal for U.S. Tennis Open on USA.

(Singing Together now) Are you ready for some football!!!! Okay, enough of that, The NFL season officially kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) with the NY Giants and the Washington Redskins taking center stage..you best believe I'll be sitting in front of the tube for this one..

And I know you thought the NBA was long gone at least for about 6 months, but the season is truly only two months away.. ESPN did some early polling picks about the next MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Future worst player. The list is pretty interesting... take a look at it
HERE.

LeBron James and Chris Paul take the spots for top MVP picks, Baron Davis and Jermaine O'Neal got the spots for worst newcomer this year. Also, Micheal Beasley grabbed the #1 spot for the Rookie of the year (Miami Heat)..along with hometown team homie, Russell Westbrook repping the new Oklahoma City team.

I think the voters did a pretty good job on this list, what do you think? Hit me up and let me know. Oh, if there there is something that you want this knowledgeable lady sports fan to be talking about or something I should know, hit me me as well.

Also a very insightfull story from one of my favorite ESPN Sports writers, Jemele Hill, on football players playing through the pain.. "Any Given Sunday" is truly a real-life story complete with consequences.. Read it HERE. My question to all, is how much would you be willing to sacrifice for your career. I try to keep these things in prospective, if I had my dream job, would I scarifice my health for it? I don't know, but if you play pro sports the smartest thing you can do is create another avenue for yourself so that your health will never be a bargaining tool to put on the table. What do you think..Is Shawne Merriman doing a little too much gambling with his health and career? See Shawne in play on Sunday, in San Deigo.

I thinks that's about it for now..I will be at the O-State vs Houston game this weekend, but I will be putting you for all the games and scores so no worries.

Sports..Put Up or Shut Up

So I couldn't let this one go by seeing that there has been sooo much controversy concerning Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre..more to the latter. Anyways, tonight on ESPN, at 7/8 ET the Green Bay Packers will be playing in their first NFL Pre-Season game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field.

Now, I have already spoke on letting Brett Favre play/drama, but have yet to speak Aaron Rodgers play. First of all, I don't know what the Packers are expecting of this dude..He's not Jesus, nor is he a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Tony Romo. This guy hasn't even played that much..so if this game goes how I think it will go..I'm going to be laughing the whole season.

Secondly, with all the drama surrounding this QB spot, I really sense a Chicago situation. Switching quarterbacks every week..I feel that the Packers set themselves up for that kind of situation with the way they handled things. You have these "Supposedly" good QB's , and once the season starts they play like the analyze turf for a living. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but most likely I'm not. One thing I do know is that I will be checking out Mr. Rodgers to see the state of his game. I also know the strategy the Pre-Season games so I don't expect that much from him, but I do know want to know if he sucks it up, cause everybody is checking for him this game and you know how football politics can be..What do you think..Is he gonna choke or is he getting the Packer's vote? Well shall soon see.

Sports.

I usually try not to post on the same thing in a row but, this morning I was truly enlightened on the sports front. So, I'm in Philly on vacay and I had a 2 hour conversation about sports with my Uncle Charles which lead me to write this post cause I can't let these jewels fall by the wayside. So without further a due...In commemoration of my Philly vacation I give you.

The Top 5 Worst Philly trades:
(truly according to Suga HiL)

5. Raja Bell

4. Charles Barkley

3. Moses Malone

2. A.I

1. T.O.

If you don't know who these people are pull yourself together and go watch ESPN, and google these players with mad skills. Also, I could have chose to go on-and-on but I'm on vacation. Philly needs to get it's ish together on the athletic front and return to becoming one of the best sports cities. Think I got wrong, probably not but, hit me up if your crazy enough to think I got it wrong.

Sports.

Evidently, the NFL coaches don't want T.O or Chad Johnson on their teams. In the offseason ESPN.com did an anonymous survey of NFL head coaches that explored a variety of topics, including smartest offensive and defensive player, etc.Another question asked to the NFL head coaches was which Pro Bowl-caliber player would they not want on their roster?

Of the 20 head coaches who responded, 14 voted for Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens, who was the runaway winner. Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals was a distant second with three votes.
But the question is why Owens, and why by some many votes? When it comes to winning, there is no comparison between Owens and Johnson. Owens led three different teams to the playoffs and has a Super Bowl appearance with the Philadelphia Eagles.Johnson has just one winning season his entire career in Cincinnati and is 0-1 in the postseason.
It is clear that Owens rates much higher on the distraction scale with coaches.
In my opinon, I would rather have T.O. than Chad. But, I think that coaches rather have Johnson cause they don't like players who still their shine. I also feel the limelight gives room for the player not to be focused on the game.

To me there is a million and 1 reasons not to want Johnson though, I guess being arrested a couple of times and definitely loving being the bad boy of the NFL doesn't really count for anything. Plus, I thought Pacman Jones would have taken the #1 spot. But, maybe I'm wrong.

Official Results:
1. Terrell Owens: WR Dallas Cowboys
2. Chad Johnson: WR Cincinatti Bengals
3. Randy Moss: WR New England Patriots
4 .Drayton Florence: CB Jacksonville Jaguars
5. Adam "Pacman" Jones: CB Dallas Cowboys
What do you think T.O or Chad Johnson? Or is this list all wrong?
Oh, I forgot to add that @ least T.O is easy on the eyes and has that great smile. Umm.

Sports.

So I was peeping around ESPN like I usually do and what do my eyes find? Another story about O-State (Oklahoma State Univertisty) that continues to enforce negative views about the O-State football team. Read the story first..my comments follow.

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State Cowboys tight end Brandon Pettigrew pleaded guilty on Monday to a reduced charge for allegedly attacking a police officer in January.
Payne County prosecutors originally charged Pettigrew with felony assault and battery on a police officer, but they reached a plea agreement with Pettigrew in which he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery.
He must pay a $200 fine and make a $200 contribution to the victims' compensation fund, as well as perform 20 hours of community service, which he has already completed at the YMCA, defense attorney William Baker said in court.
Pettigrew, from Tyler, Texas, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor public intoxication in the incident and was fined $100.
He received a deferred sentence and won't have a criminal record if he successfully completes probation. Coach Mike Gundy declined to suspend Pettigrew, saying in February that he would allow the case to run its course.
Pettigrew caught 35 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press

Now, what I don't understand is what could you have been possibly drinking or smoking to make you assault a Police Officer? Obviously, this story from the AP doesn't tell all, but at the same time, I have to use the very much overused quote.."Black people, we have got to do bettter." No one expects anybody to be perfect. But, as a black, male athlete on scholarship on a NCAA team--I and every sane person will hold you to a higher standard. A million and one people would kill for a free education, yet you have the time to assault a Police officer? There is nothing wrong with drinking, atleast try to make an effort to do it responsibly. What I have come to learn at my at (20's) is that you only have one shot a life so think again before screwing it up especially when you have so much on the line. Whether you think you are a inspiration to someone or not someone will always look at you for an example of "What to Do" or "What not to Do." So I say this, always try to put your best foot forward. So after all my rant..was I a little hard on Brandon? I thinks not, but let me know what you think?
