Intellect..5 Must Know Holiday Travel Tips
If you're flying to a holiday get-together, to see family, or for any other reason that you have to use a plane here are 5 tips from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to help speed your way through airport security.
Do not gift-wrap carry-on items. Security officers are required to remove the wrapping paper. Wrapped gifts should be packed in your checked bags, according to TSA spokesman Christopher White.
Do not bring remote-controlled toys as carry-on luggage. "Unfortunately in this world we live in, terrorists have an interest in using remote-controlled detonators," White said. You can put them in checked bags.
Pies (and other food, such as gingerbread, cookies and the like) are permitted as carry-on items. "It doesn't matter the consistency, though we may perform some additional scrutiny on the passenger or the plate," White said.
Jams and jellies are considered gels and are therefore subject to the 3-1-1 rules if brought as carry-on items: They must be in containers no bigger than 3 ounces, and they must all fit in one 1-quart clear zip-top plastic bag. (Otherwise, wrap them carefully to prevent breakage, and put them in your checked bags.)
Every airport in the country with more than one security lane now has a designated "family lane," but you don't need to be traveling with children to use it, White said. These lanes are open to any travelers who don't want to be rushed, whether due to special needs, or just wanting a few more minutes to remove shoes and coats, open up laptops and deal with other items. Travelers carrying medically necessary liquids of more than 3 ounces (such as diabetics) should also use the family lanes, White said.
Good news for the future: Checkpoint X-ray machines are being upgraded with advanced technology that can distinguish between liquid explosives and beverages, so "we are considering making changes some time in 2009" on the ban on liquids over 3 ounces, White said. More information at http://www.tsa.gov/.
I hope this helps you out in all your holiday traveling..and have a safe and merry holiday.

Music..Keri Hilson says "Recognize a Real Woman"
This is Keri Hilson's new video called "Turnin Me On" featuring Lil' Wayne. It's been out for a little bit but I think it's not getting the proper radio play that it deserves. I really like the video and the song--it's very catchy.
The premise is how dudes can really turn you off when you at the club and etc, and when a dude comes at you "just right". Keri says "You should recognize a real woman" ..loves it, anyways peep the video.
What do you think? Oh and to the dudes, she's not male bashing she just giving you the tools to come at her correct, what dude can get mad at that?

Sports..Syracuse B-Ball Coach Decides to Beat Up His Mic after First Loss
So if you didn't watch anything in the sports world last night Cleveland State beat No. 11 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome with a hail Mary half-court shot.
Here's the video of game winning shot
What was more entertaining and hilarious, was what happened after the game.
Head coach Jim Boeheim, who looked as confused as Yao Ming trying to play defense was answering questions when his mic started to malfunction. A few nasty stares at this horribly made device wasn't enough, so Boeheim took a swipe at the thing. No, seriously. He took a jab so quick at the mic, I felt I was watching the Kimbo Slice fight again. Just peep the vid..Beware: it is definitely too funny for work but hit play anyways.
So, what is your take on the situation. What do you think Coach Boeheim was thinking/saying in his mind to make him take a swipe at the mic like that. I personally think he was saying the following:
"I might have lost my first fight on the court this season, but I damn sure ain't losing with a mic"
Just my take though, what yours. Let a sister know.

Sports..Lil' Wayne's blog on the NFL Right Now
Well I haven't posted any of Lil's Wayne's thoughts on sports lately because more often than not these days, he really hasn't had too many smart things to say. ( Kid's Stay off the drugs and misc. liquids) But, he bought up some interesting points about the NFL, and I can appreciate his few moments of intelligence.
Lil' Wayne- "The AFC is a real mystery right now. You kind of know what's going to happen with the NFC, but the AFC is all messed up this year. I'm probably the only person out there who thought the Chiefs were gonna be playoff contenders, and Cincinnati would be good, too. "
Suga HiL- Very true, I feel that sometimes NFL mess up games just to play with people's heads.
Lil' Wayne- "The whole Plaxico thing kind was crazy because immediately afterward everyone was talking about the legal implications and what are the Giants going to do with him now, and no one stopped and said, My God, this guy just shot himself. Is he okay? Was it stupid? Of course. I mean, I accidentally shot myself when I was twelve and that's a scary lesson to learn. But before you go yelling at him and talking about his punishment for being so stupid it's like, Guy, is your leg okay? I was amazed no one was asking that question. The guy just shot himself in the leg!"
Suga HiL- No one was asking if he was okay because he shot himself in the leg..FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, Lil' Wayne, it's his leg. My thinking was if you are dumb enough to put yourself in a situation like that, you deserve all the consequences coming to you. (All I gotta say is OJ=15 yrs in prison)
So what do you think bout' what Weezy had to say, or what I had to say for that matter. Let a sister know. The full blog entry is HERE.

Will Smith on Jay Leno...
Obviously this post really doesn't fall into any specific category, but who doesn't love Will Smith?
Exactly.
Thanks to Mr. World Premiere for the vid, plus every Will Smith I have ever seen he has dropped some jewels of knowledge. Unlike a lot of celebrities now days, they don't really have too much to say so I always enjoy a Will Smith interview.
By the way, do you have any jewels you want to drop today? Mine, try to outdo and challenge yourself everyday. And always strive to be happy and to ignore the drama.
It's definitely harder said than done.

Throwback Friday...Just When You Need It..
It's another Friday, and here is a great Throwback that came at just the right time..
I was a little heated about having someone try to "do me" at work and did a terrible job, leading to twice the work for me. I was talking to my friend about it and this is what he had to say:
"You'll get it, your are very smart, and strong willed".
It's great to have people in your life to say things to you like this, if you don't have any, get some friends that will encourage you when you need it. Anywho, here is the throwback from none other than Whitney Houston (pre-crack, ya'll know this song; Exhale (Shoop, Shoop) from the Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack. So the next time you feeling stressed..(all together now) deep Breath...Exhale!!

Sports..Is it ALL about the chesse??
I was watching this Josh Childress interview and his whole International basketball experience..it's definitely interesting..(watch vid)
Is it all about the money these days? Maybe I wasn't understanding or hearing him right. I'm nit judging his decision, I'm just think out loud. Obviously, I believe none of the NBA's star players will go overseas. Why? I think "our" NBA players are some of the most cockiness, competitive, and spoiled players in the professional athletic realm. Without the challenge, I just can't see them making a major move like that.
I honestly think in Josh's case, no play + money is different than, stater + money. It just seemed to me he didn't explain this well enough in the interview. He just seemed a little jaded about his reasoning for playing overseas. What do you think? Is his reasoning smart? Do you think more NBA players will be welcoming playing overseas? Hit me up and let me know.

Sports..Possible NFL Franchise Moves
Just Thursday afternoon it was reported that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was thinking the next NFL team might find its way down to San Antonio.
Well, lucky for us, Forbes has now compiled a list of which sports teams are most likely to go go for pizza and never make it back to their destinations.
The 10 that are most likely to move for one reason or another is as follows:
-- Florida Marlins
-- Tampa Bay Rays
-- Buffalo Bills
-- Minnesota Vikings
-- San Francisco 49ers
-- New York Islanders
-- Phoenix Coyotes
-- Nashville Predators
-- New Orleans Hornets
-- Charlotte Bobcats
So what do you guys think of this list? Let a sistah know. FYI, click the Forbes link for the full article.

Sports..Did You know the WNBA Championship was on last night??
Man, I'm feeling kind of disappointed and robbed because I had no idea that the WNBA championship game was on last night. No commercials, no marketing, nothing. How is any league supposed to grow if you don't even publicize the Championship?? I mean, WTH? Anyways this is how it went down.
The Detroit Shock won their third WBA championship in a 76-60 win against the San Antonio Silver Stars in a dynamic completed a three-game sweep.
Detroit became the second team in league history to win a third championship. Only the Houston Comets, who won the first four (1997-2000), have more. Los Angeles (2001, 2002) is the only other team with more than one. It was an especially sweet win for the Shock, who let the 2007 title slip away, losing Game 5 at The Palace to the Phoenix Mercury.
The game was tight for three quarters with San Antonio leading by six on several occasions. But the veteran Shock were too much to take in the fourth with the title on the line. The Shock enjoyed a 49-45 lead after three periods. A pair of free throws by McWilliams-Franklin less than a minute later gave the Shock their first double-digit lead of the game.
The Shock had been one of the league's best teams for much of the year, but sputtered a bit after losing top post player Cheryl Ford to a season-ending knee injury in July.
But a trade for the veteran McWilliams-Franklin over the Olympic break was just what Detroit needed.
After a night of celebrating, the Shock have a date with the new mayor of Detroit, Ken Cockrel Jr., who will honor the team at a downtown celebration at this afternoon.
I'm About It All Facts:
• The Katie Smith was the MVP of the game with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
• The Shock completed the first three-game WNBA Finals sweep in league history.
• Detroit is the third team in league history to win the championship without home-court advantage.
• The Shock's three titles are the second-most all-time (Houston has four), and their 27 playoff wins are tied for the most all-time with Los Angeles.
See all the video highlights Here.
Oh and congratulations ladies you deserve that and more!!

Intellect..And the Results are in..
Okay the results are in from last night's debate between the V-P candidates. I personally thought that after the first half of the debate there was no way Palin could win because she didn't do the one essential part the the debate: Answer the Questions!!
So, I gave the win to Biden and apparently so did everyone else according too CNN poll results.
51 percent say Democratic Sen. Joe Biden wins vice presidential debate.
Republican Gov. Sarah Palin exceeds expectations, 84 percent say.
Palin beats Biden on likability, 54-36.
87 percent say Biden is qualified for job, 42 percent say Palin is.

Sports..My Alma Mater is back in the Ranks..
What a difference a year makes.
My alma mater Oklahoma State is riding high with a 4-0 record and is one of six Big 12 teams to be ranked this week. An explosive offense that has hung 50 points on each of its last three opponents is bringing back memories of previous Cowboy teams when Barry Sanders was here 20 years ago after a 55-24 rout of Troy last week.
"I would say winning gives everybody a good feeling," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. "When the guys are walking on campus, I would guess that people are telling them they are playing well. I imagine they are feeling pretty good about themselves."
Only a year ago, the prospects for the program weren't nearly as bright. The Cowboys limped home after a loss to Troy in quarterback Zac Robinson's first career start. The residue of discontent sparked Gundy's infamous rant after beating Texas Tech in their conference opener.
Fast forward a year later and it's much quieter around Stillwater. Their 21 spot national ranking -- their first since Gundy took over in 2005 -- is a milestone of sorts for the program as we head into our Big 12 opener Saturday night against Texas A&M.
new players have come along who might give them more firepower than last season. RB Kendall Hunter ranks third nationally with an average of 154.5 rushing yards per game and has a capable backup in Keith Toston, who has run for 100 yards in each of his last two games. The Cowboys lead the nation in rushing, rank third in scoring and are fourth in total offense.
Dez Bryant has developed into a key receiving threat who has already snagged six touchdown receptions, including three last week against Troy. These guys have truly taken some pressure off Robinson, who finds he doesn't have to be as big a part of the offense as when he rushed for 847 yards last season.
I can't predict how the rest of the season for Oklahoma State will turnout, we have four opponents so far have a combined record of 6-11. And play all four of the Big 12 teams ranked in the top seven nationally. Ultimately, I really think we can hold our own right now.
The Cowboys will be looking for revenge against Texas A&M, which has posted a pair of one-point victories against us in the last two seasons. The Aggies escaped with a tight overtime victory in Stillwater in 2006 when an Oklahoma State extra point was blocked, the loss at College Station last season after squandering a 17-0 halftime lead.
For the first time in Gundy's coaching tenure, we'll have a settled quarterback situation this week against the Aggies with Robinson in charge. I feeling great, and look forward to the rest of a really exciting season.

Sports.. Lil' Wayne Blog Post #2
Okay, so if you don't know by now, Lil Wayne now has a blog on ESPN, because he's a sports fnanatic. I read the first one, it was aight, but the second one I actually found entertaining and got some laughs from. Here is some of his excerpts from his post..
ON NFL: Now on to Brett Favre. He must know God's phone number, 'cause he is
superhuman. Like, Brett Farve? Come on. He's like 3900 years old and he threw
for six touchdowns? He's never even done that in his whole career. And he does
it with the Jets when no one is expecting nothing from him.
ON Sundays: I'm gonna watch the baseball games today at my house. On Sundays, I
pretty much don't leave my house until after all the games are over, and then I
go into the studio. I have five TVs in my house and we have like 85 TVs in the
studio, and all of them will be on different sports.
ON his Fantasy Football Team: I won my fantasy football match-up this week, by
the way. I slayed 'em 79-43. I'm 3-1 now. They still don't know it's me, even
though I use my real name, Dwayne Carter, on there. Even if there's a guy who
knows who I am, he's probably looking at that and going, yeah, whatever.

Something a little different..Student wins 12 milli!
The credit crisis and tight student budgets hold no fears for a British teenager who won 7 million pounds ($12.68 million) on the Lottery.
Ianthe Fullagar, 18, from Cumbria, northern England, said she still plans to go to university next year to study law, despite her huge win on the EuroMillions game. Although she won't need a student loan or inflated overdraft, she said she hopes to be just like the others at college.
"I'm going to live the life of a student. I'm going to live in student digs," she told the BBC on Tuesday. "I love baked beans."
She hid her winning ticket in her bra before moving it to a jewelry box and then her gym bag while she waited for her win to be confirmed. After receiving an over-sized check at an official ceremony, she said she plans to spend her winnings on her family and friends and a new Ford Ka.
This kind of story makes me happy that a student won the lottery but obviously slight jealous that it wasn't me. Which bring to mind, if you won 12 mil what would you do with it?
Me, school loans, grad school, house, savings, and tithes. (Not necesarily in that order)

Intellect..Something a little different
I'm sure you know by now the first Presidential debate of the 2008 race is tonight..I just wanted to encourage you to watch it. In less than 2 hours from now, these candidates will attempt to further explain their views and what they stand for. It's more important as the United States' financial issues are more of a problem than ever.. Take notice and educate yourself on one of our futures presidents. I will have my review of how it went down after the debate.

Music..Throwback Friday
Hey all, due to my crazy schedule lately I just didn't have time to post yesterday. I hope you didn't lose your mind. I decided to give you some old school Whitney. I mean this was way before Bobby had a chance to ruin her life. Here's "I Wanna Dance with somebody", circa 1987. Oh and the crazy thing is all the fashion in the video is current now, the scarf Whit had on, the shinny leggings..who would have though.
Enjoy and have a good Friday.

Sports..Plaxico Keeps the Bench Warm for Week 4
Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress was suspended for one game (2 weeks in total including the buy week) by the New York Giants on today for an undisclosed violation of team rules. General manager Jerry Reese and coach Tom Coughlin informed Burress of the suspension Wednesday morning before the team held a bye-week practice.

Fashion..D&G Spring/Summer Shows
So Milan Fashion week started this week and I have for you.....Dolce and Gabana!!!
Spring and Summer 2009 Womenswear
In this show D&G really went sailor on us and I actually really liked it. The evening dresses not soo much. All I was thinking in my mind when I saw them was "Don't go near the microwave". I loved the bathing suits, but I was trying to figure out girl like me with some hips and curves would look in one?? Hmm. I also liked the slightly masculine looks, they were so sexy to me. Overall, this was a great show, and I will definitely be looking for some knock-offs of this line.
Spring and Summer 2009 Menswear
To me it seems that they played up the young Clark Kent look up for this line. I like the clean suits, of course it is fashion so there were one to many metro-sexual looks for me. Overall, I thought it was a good show with some wearable potential with the dress shirts, tie, and the skinny pants.
What do you think of D&G's Summer Spring line? Let me know.

Intellect..Chris Rock's view on Bill Clinton
It just so happened that Bill Clinton and Chris Rock where on the David Letterman show on the same night. So since Bill Clinton was first you know Chris Rock had to respond to how the interview went. Hilarious...just classic Chris Rock. Gosh I miss his comedy.

Intellect..Biden gives the Thumbs Down to McCain Ad
Barack Obama's running mate says a campaign ad that mocked Republican presidential candidate John McCain as an out-of-touch, out-of-date computer illiterate was "terrible" and would not have been done had he known about it.
He admits he still doesn't know how to use a computer, can't send an e-mail, still doesn't understand the economy, and favors $200 billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class," the ad says.
Asked about the negative tone of the campaign, and this ad in particular, during an interview broadcast Monday by the "CBS Evening News," Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, said he disapproved of it.
"I thought that was terrible, by the way," Biden said.Late Monday, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement from Biden. In it, Biden said he "was asked about an ad I'd never seen" and was "reacting merely to press reports."
Asked why it was done, he said: "I didn't know we did it, and if I had anything to do with it, we'd have never done it."
Biden said that, as he said in the interview, there was nothing "intentionally personal" in the criticism of McCain's views.
"Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Sen. McCain's ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize, especially when they continue to distort Barack's votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators," Biden said.
Biden was referring to a McCain ad that said Obama supported sex education for kindergartners, based on a bill he voted for as an Illinois state senator. Obama's campaign said the ad was a "shameful" distortion of his record because the bill's language meant young children would have been taught about sexual predators and concepts such as "good touch and bad touch."
This is what I don't get, this ad has been out for awhile know why is he just now making a fuss about it? I personally don't think the add is that bad compared to all the negative adds McCain has done. Plus, there are some voter out there who don't know who to use computers..that can actually be a positive for him. Whatever..but what do you think. Was the ad "Terrible" like Biden says? hit me up and let me know.

Sports..Are We in the Twilight Zone??
This weekend's display of a couple of WTH's in sports has made me believe that...(Click Video)
We are truly in the Twilight Zone.
First one, Dallas Cowboys actually won a game in Lambeau Field against the Greenbay Packers for the very first time. T.O. only had two catches for 17 yards, the rest was done by Marion Barber and special teams player Miles Austin. Final Score: 27-16.
Twilight Zone moment: I mean, yeah I thought that they might win but I knew the Cowboys history; and the Packers did put up a fight until the 3 quarter. Plus, how many times did people think Dallas was going to win at Lambueau and didn't...6 to be exact.
The United States won the Ryder Cup Championship for the first time in 9 years. Volumes have been written on the withering pressure of this event, particularly America's tense susceptibility to that pressure in recent years. If you asked around, I'm sure the most common explanations for the United States' recent Ryder Cup failures was its inability to play loose and have fun. Their Twilight Zone moment: Tiger Woods wasn't even on the team!?!? Yeah, I know you're thinking the same thing as me. Their combined record in this Ryder Cup: a dominant 6-1-3. Their combined record on Sunday, with the Cup up for grabs: 3-0.
And finally, the Miami Dolphins beat the New Patriots in a 38-13 win at New England's home field. Fans booed the Patriots. Many left early. The record winning streak of their favorite team was ending with a stunning domination by the lowly Dolphins. Twilight Zone Moment: In ending the Patriots' NFL-record 21-game regular-season win streak, the Dolphins also snapped their 11-game road losing streak.
So do you think were in the Twilight Zone sports wise? I also think that something a little off in NCAA football too, but I could go on and on about that one. Or do you think that's these events are just luck and are really just a one in a million moments? Hit me up and let me know.

Fashion..Candace Bushnell pens Carrie Bradshaw's High School Days
Carrie Bradshaw from the hit TV series and movie "Sex and the City" is leaving Manhattan's Upper East Side and heading back to school.
As well as "Sex and the City", which was made into a hit six-season HBO TV series and movie starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Bushnell has written "Four Blondes", "Trading Up" and "Lipstick Jungle" which is now also a TV series. Her latest novel, "One Fifth Avenue", is due out shortly.
Honestly this seems like a milk the cow till it's dry situation. At the same time you know theses little teenage girls are going to buy into it. I personally don't like the fact that they keep drawing out this "Sex In the City" kind of stuff, just let it go.. I am looking forward to her novel "One Fifth Avenue", I read a couple excerpts in last month's Elle magazine and it's definitely a page turner.
